An honest woodcutter/ Honesty is the best policy.

There lived a woodcutter in a village. One day he was cutting wood in jungle near a river. Suddenly his axe fell into the river. The river was very deep and the woodcutter did not know how to swim or dive. So, he was sitting there with a heavy heart. He was very poor and he had no money to buy another axe. He was thinking what to do. He was very depressed and blaming his lot. Suddenly, he heard a voice and saw a fairy before him. The fairy asked him why he was crying. He told her everything. The fairy took pity on him. She went into the river and came back with a golden axe. She asked the woodcutter if it was his axe. The woodcutter replied in the negative. She then again dived into water and returned with a silver one. This time also the woodcutter refused to take it. Finally, she brought the axe of the woodcutter from water. The woodcutter was delighted to get back his iron axe. The fairy became very pleased with the woodcutter at his honesty and gave him the two valuable axes as reward. Honesty is thus always rewarded.

Amit      :  Hello, Jony. How are you?

Jony       :   I am fine and what about you?

Amit       :  I am fine too. It is long time since I met you last.

Jony        :  But we have kept constant contact only because of the mobile phone.

Amit      :  Yes, this mobile phone has become an important instrumental device in our daily life.

      We cannot do without it for a single day.

Jony      :  Right. It has reduced uncertainty, doubt, anxious waiting and painful suspense. Through mobile

                 phone, one can send messages, play games and sports, know about time, date, week, month and

     year, solve the work of calculation, be aware of current news and views, watch various

     programmes of television and the whole world seems to be a global village with the golden touch

     of mobile phone. In fact, it has made our life easy and comfortable in many ways.

Amit       :  Besides, it has made our global communication dynamic and faster.

Jony        :  But we must admit that it has some disadvantages too.

Amit    :  You are absolutely right. It causes brain tumor, genetic damage and many other incurable diseases.

               It is especially hazardous for the children and pregnant women.

Jony      :   Yes, during conversation, the blood brain barrier may get damaged, the blood pressure may get

                 high and the red blood cells may get affected.

Amit      :   Besides, it is doing a lot of harms to the teenagers. They can easily indulge in many obscene

                 programmes also. In this way it is spreading pornography.

Jony      :  It is high time we saved them from their moral degradation.

Amit     : Right you are. The criminals are also carrying out their operations with the help of it.

   It is also very alarming.

Jony     :  All these are very true. Though we are getting immense benefits from it, we should use it with

               much care and caution to avoid its demerits. 

Amit      : Yes. Thank you so much. Good bye now.
